Cropping up at music Festivals throughout Europe this year, those thoughtful people at Nokia provided these sound proof booths to make phone calls from.
A public service, an ad, and branding opportunity all in one. Brilliant.
(Actually this is nothing new, in the run-down Northern town I grew up in, we used to have loads of phone boxes without phones, all over the place.)
This Nokia thing also reminds me of something cool Orange did a year or two back at the Edinburgh Book Festival.
I the entrance hall of the festival, (it's actually a massive tent-like thing, but I digress), there was what looked like a stack of lockable, mini-left-luggage boxes. About 24 in all.
As I recall each had a logo of a phone manufacturer on the door. Inside was a charger appropriate for whichever brand of phone you had.
As you were going into a book reading/talk you had to switch your phone off anyway, so Orange thoughtfully provided free-charging of your phone for an hour or so while you were listening to the author.
Brilliant.
